Hello! I’m Nia Davenport –a CPA Financial Coach who can talk to my husband about any money issue without creating fireworks. That’s not the way things started out for us, but through some very hard lessons, prayer-closet-tantrums, and major mental re-wiring, we are finally on the same page!
This is my professional blog. But it’s also personal, because I like to personally road-test my advice. It’s all about how to experience the bliss of marital financial unity. My mission is to help you experience the financial purpose, peace, and power of being teammates with your spouse – and with God – about money.
I write about how to navigate a variety of financial issues in ways that are fulfilling and bonding with your spouse. My goal is to see money become a powerful tool that strengthens marriages instead of being the #1 cause of divorce. If you are a married Christian who ever deals with money, this blog is for you!
I typically post 4 or 5 times per month. To make sure that you get all of my posts as soon as they’re published, please subscribe to my newsletter by filling out the field at the top of this screen.
The blog that I authored from 2010 – 2014 (“Freedom from Financial Friction”) has been un-published, as I’ve undergone a rebranding, new website, and newly integrated Social media outreach. In March 2015, I’ll be transferring a few of my readers’ favorite posts to start off this new blog. Starting fresh in April, I’ll be writing articles and sharing tools that are based around a monthly theme.
You’ll be able to check my blog’s “Categories” listing for posts related to specific topics. And there’s a search function to find other posts that you might enjoy.
I have worked in the financial services industry for my entire career, beginning with an internship at the international CPA Firm of Arthur Andersen and Company while I was a student at Wake Forest University. I worked at Arthur Andersen for a total of six years, which gave me a broad and diverse exposure to every area of accounting and finance.
I earned my North Carolina CPA license in 1997, and then became an associate with a financial planning group in Greensboro, NC. This allowed me to pursue my passion of helping individuals manage their personal finances. While working with a variety of clients, I began to sense the need and the calling to specialize in helping married couples find unity in planning their financial futures. I’ve been doing exactly that in various forms ever since. I now do it as a Financial Coach through my own private practice (Nia Davenport, CPA) in Winston-Salem, NC.
I am also a professional speaker and a writer who has been published in several national Christian magazines. I’ve been interviewed on Crown Ministries radio, Encouragement Café radio, and The Light radio.
My husband, John and I have been married for 18 years, and are enjoying the adventure of raising five intriguing and energetic children.
In my free time, I enjoy classical guitar (I still play like a beginner after 5 years!), cooking for my voracious children, working out while listening to bass-thumping Holy Hip Hop, daydreaming (I can’t help it, I’m a visionary and a hopeless romantic!), and traveling with my husband. We have been active members of Winston-Salem First Assembly since 1999.
